Osteoporosis is a disease of decreased bone density. Bones become thin, weak, fragile, and may break easily. This diseases strikes more on women and older people. But people of any age or gender still has the risk of osteoporosis.
According to healthday, The National Institute of Arthritis, Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases of the United States recommends the following steps to prevent osteoporosis:
- Eat a healthy and balanced diet, rich in vitamin D and calcium.
- Exercise frequently designed to help strengthen bones. Your doctor may recommend certain exercises.
- Consumption of drugs designed to prevent bone loss or increase bone density.
- Avoid things that could make you fall and avoid wearing high heels.
